Faith Formation Program

Mount Sacred Heart Catholic School, in collaboration with our parents, strives to educate all children in an environment and learning program rooted in Gospel values.

Throughout the year, students participate in school Masses and are invited to grow in reverence, prayer, and active participation in our Liturgies. Students also participate in faith-building experiences such as retreats, prayer services, and all-school celebrations.

Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is available for students, as desired by the student’s family.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children rooted in Scripture and the liturgy of the Church. It invites students into prayerful reflection that nurtures their relationship with God and helps them respond to His love.

Students gather in a specially prepared space called an Atrium, designed as a place for religious life, community, and worship. In the Atrium, children work with hands-on materials connected to key biblical stories, parables, and the life of the Church.

These materials invite children to return to important themes again and again, supporting quiet concentration, sacred wonder, and a deeper understanding of prayer and the sacraments in an atmosphere of reverence.

The catechist prepares the environment and offers selected presentations from Scripture and liturgy that invite the child’s response. Together, the catechist and child listen and wonder, asking, “God, who are you? How do you love us?”

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sacred Heart of Jesus

O most holy Heart of Jesus, foundation of every blessing, I adore You, I love You, and with lively sorrow for my sins, I offer You this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in You and for You. Protect me in the midst of danger, comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Your blessings on all that I do, and the grace of the holy death. Amen.
